The lakes shine brightly in the sun like sapphires in this nature area which extends along Lakes Biggesee and Listersee to include the towns of Attendorn, Drolshagen, Meinerzhagen, Olpe and the municipality of Wenden. Your hiking experience
Hikers can explore the landscape around Lakes Biggesee and Listersee and in the region of Wenden on level paths which run directly along the lake or on more challenging paths at altitude. There are numerous rest areas and lookout points in the Biggesee-Listersee nature experience area where you can enjoy the wonderful scenery during or after a long hike. Try out the deckchairs – you won’t want to get up again!

The Bigge-Lister cycle ring
The Bigge-Lister cycle ring is split into a mountain route and a lake route. The mountain route of the ring links the four towns of Attendorn, Drolshagen, Meinerzhagen and Olpe and Lakes Biggesee and Listersee with one another and is a challenging mountain route of around 64 km. There is direct link to the mountain route from the municipality of Wenden via Olpe.
The lake route runs along the lake shore for around 50 km and is especially suitable for families. Both routes are well-signposted and indicate current locations. There are numerous places to stop en route for rest and relaxation. There is also a direct link here to the lake route from the municipality of Wenden via Olpe.

Are you keen on sport or do you prefer to spend days in the forest shade? We cater for all tastes. There are a range of facilities around the lakes for sailing, pedalos, canoeing, diving, surfing, fishing or swimming. Try the larger swimming spots such as the ones at the Schnütgenhof or Waldenburg Bay in the north of Lake Biggesee at Attendorn, Sonderner Kopf in Olpe-Sondern on Lake Biggesee or at the swimming spots in Meinerzhagen-Windebruch or Kalberschnacke on Lake Listersee. No problem if you are looking for something quieter: there are many idyllic swimming spots on both lakes in the Biggesee-Listersee nature experience area.

The five towns of Attendorn, Olpe, Drolshagen, Meinerzhagen and Wenden around Lakes Biggesee und Listersee also offer you fantastic and glamorous shopping facilities. Enjoy strolling through the town, come and be inspired by the many small and interesting shops. Then relax at the end of the day in one of the numerous cafés or restaurants in the pedestrian area.

Ski slopes, cross-country and alpine skiing are now some of the greatest winter pleasures for many people. How about a ski run on the gentle slopes (400-500 m long) in the Fahlenscheid ski region near Olpe? Here we can help you have fun in the snow, and the lovely Snowboard Funpark provides a good lift-off for snow freaks. Go down the valley by tube: have a go at snowtubing, the newest winter sport in Fahlenscheid. If nature has not yet produced any snow, then our snow-making equipment ensures appropriate temperatures for good winter sport conditions. Floodlighting also enables you to continue with your winter sports activities after dark.
Sliding on narrow “boards”
through enchanting landscape not only gives you a good workout from tip to toe but also enables you to relax both mentally and physically. So, come to our lovely southern Sauerland in winter, too and find peace and quiet. You can ski through magnificent winter scenery in ideal cross-country conditions at a leisurely or a sporty pace. The Olpe ski club in Olpe-Fahlenscheid has signposted ski trails for you. In the area around the Nordhelle mountain (Herscheid) near Meinerzhagen you will find the well-maintained “Ebbekamm” cross-country ski run at the highest altitude of Sauerland.
