Hiking is fun!
The town of Meinerzhagen nestles in the mountains and forests of the Märkisches Sauerland area at the foot of the Ebbe mountains. Visitors can sleep comfortably in well-maintained hotels, guesthouses and bed and breakfasts. Nature lovers will be attracted by the delightful scenery. The reservoirs of Fürwigge, Genkel and the Listertal dams offer wonderful hikes. Meinerzhagen and Valbert are also centres for winter sports. There are opportunities for extensive hiking with more than 300 km of signposted paths.
Visit cultural monuments such as the bone mill or the moated castle in Badinhagen and immerse yourself in history.
Well-prepared slopes and a mechanically made cross-country ski run offer opportunities for downhill or cross-country skiing to winter sports enthusiasts. Cross-country skiing is a special pleasure in Sauerland. As soon as the first snows fall, you can come and enjoy several specially prepared tracks between 400 and 630 metres in the Märkische region. All these facilities are easily accessible, thus enabling visitors to maximise their time on the cross-country tracks. The route offers panoramic views and runs over open ridges and also through forests and low valleys.
